A Healthy Dessert that Tastes Good?

A Healthy Dessert that Tastes Good?

Typical “healthified” treats and desserts just aren’t satisfying and never taste like the real thing.

I don’t know, I guess I just like butter, sugar, and flour.

Sometimes, though, your normal indulgences have to take a backseat when your diet has other priorities. But that doesn’t stop you from wanting something sweet.

For me, I’ve found this super simple recipe does a good job of filling that void when needed.

To Be Honest…

It’s hardly even a recipe — that’s what I like about it. When I want something sweet, I don’t need a lot of steps in my way.

It’s basically just throwing some fruit in bowl, but the specific proportions work well together (although feel free to mess around with it).

The trickiest part is finding a ripe mango and figuring out how to cut it. (Here’s everything you need to know to tackle the mango.)

Is Fruit Ok?

Fruit can get a bad rap from some of Instagram’s so-called “health gurus” saying sugar is bad, but that’s not how I view fruit.

Nobody ever gained weight solely from fruit. It’s the other crap in our diet that does that.

What matters is your whole diet and your personal goals.

For some people, a bowl of fruit is a giant step up from a carton of ice cream. And little changes like that are what lead to bigger, lasting changes later on.

Ingredients

1 large mango

2 bananas, sliced

1 1/2 cup blueberries

Instructions

Cube mango.

Mix all fruit in a bowl.

Eat.

(Makes 2 to 4 servings. Share it or store the extra in the fridge for later.)

One More Thing

Fruit is good for you.

The point here is to have a healthy alternative to typical desserts full of processed sugars. If you don't like this particular combination, use whatever fruits you like.

Do you have a fruit recipe you use to help curb your sugar cravings?
